| Chinese Landscape Architecture Promotes the Development of Landscape Architecture Scientific Research for 40 Years |

| Based on the scientific research papers published in Chinese
Landscape Architecture during 1985-2025, this study systematically sorts out
the scientific research achievements of the journal over the past 40 years by
using bibliometrics and knowledge mapping analysis, focusing on papers funded
by the National Natural Science Foundation of China and the National Social
Science Foundation of China. Through statistical and visualization analysis, the
contributions, achievements, and experiences of the journal in the development
of landscape architecture discipline and scientific research are comprehensively
summarized, revealing the evolution of scientific research topics and the change
of research paradigms, and looking forward to the future research direction. It
is found that the publication volume of fund-supported papers has continued
to grow under the impetus of the national fund, and the research themes have
gradually broadened from the early focus on traditional garden design to broader
fields such as ecological environment and social culture. Early research often
focused on classical garden art, while in recent years, ecological restoration,
urban green space planning, cultural landscape, and other topics have received
more attention. The rapid rise of young researchers, who actively participate
in the research through the youth fund program and other channels, has
injected new vitality into the development of the discipline. At the same time,
the research methodology has gradually moved towards digitalization and
empiricization from the previous qualitative description, and most of the papers
have introduced quantitative methods such as GIS analysis and statistical
surveys, which makes the research paradigm of the discipline more scientific
and rigorous. The evolution of keyword hotspots also shows obvious stage
characteristics: the early focus on traditional issues such as garden art and
heritage protection, the mid-term shift to ecological environment, urban and
rural construction and other practical issues, and the recent focus on national
parks, national land spatial planning and other national strategic issues, as well
as social needs such as biodiversity, park cities and public health. Research
shows that as a "triple platform" for the dissemination of scientific research
results, academic exchanges, and guidance of methodological standardization,
Chinese Landscape Architecture has played a powerful and continuous role
in promoting the construction of landscape architecture. Over the past 40
years since its founding, the journal has published 1,455 papers funded by the
National Natural Science Foundation of China and 85 papers funded by the
National Social Science Foundation of China, and has become an important
platform for the release of high-level scientific research results in the discipline
of landscape architecture and forestry and an academic position. Finally,
this study puts forward the outlook and suggestions for the future research
direction of the discipline of landscape architecture. Firstly, in terms of scientific
research topics, it is proposed to focus on major issues such as climate change,
biodiversity conservation, public health and livable environment, give full play to
the unique advantages of the discipline of landscape architecture, make up for
the short boards of basic aesthetics and technological research, and actively
explore the paths of multidisciplinary cross-fertilization with the fields of ecology,
environment, and urban and rural planning; secondly, in terms of theoretical
methodology, it is proposed to adhere to the principle of basing on the local
and learning from international, and in-depth application of digitalization,
intellectualization, and low-carbon technology to enhance the scientific and
innovative nature of the discipline; finally, it is proposed to strengthen the
academic self-discipline and norms, advocate the spirit of originality, and build
a multidisciplinary cross-fertilization ecology of scientific research on landscape
architecture. |
