| Abstract: |
| As an innovative form of plant configuration, pseudo-natural
herbaceous plant communities have garnered increasing attention in international
academic and practical landscapes due to their notable characteristics: robust
stress resistance, extended ornamental periods, high biological diversity, and low
maintenance requirements. Against the backdrop of ecological urbanization and
low-carbon green space construction, this plant configuration model that simulates
the natural succession mechanism not only breaks through the limitations of
heavy artificial traces, single seasonal expression, and low ecological efficiency
in traditional greening, but also provides a sustainable solution for modern urban
spaces that combines ecological resilience and aesthetic value. This study
systematically investigates the optimization of color configuration in the design
of quasi-natural herbaceous plant communities. Color, as the core dimension
of landscape visual perception, directly affects the aesthetic value of ecological
landscapes through its composition patterns. As the most intuitive visual element
of urban plant landscapes, color determines the public's first impression and
aesthetic experience of green space. Current practice has shown that the
configuration of this type of plant generally follows the empirical paradigm, and its
design process overly relies on the individual experience of the designer, resulting
in significant subjectivity and discreteness in the color structure of the community,
and a systematic deviation from public aesthetic cognition. Based on this, This
study innovatively introduces the color composition theory of Impressionist
painting into the field of plant landscape design, using Claude Monet's mid to late
works as artistic prototypes, and constructs an interdisciplinary color translation
mechanism, aiming to achieve innovative breakthroughs in two dimensions:
enhancing the visual appeal of natural communities in the aesthetic dimension, and
establishing an ecological landscape paradigm that conforms to public aesthetic
cognition in the functional dimension. Monet's artistic works are renowned for
their revolutionary approach to capturing transient light and chromatic dynamics,
embodying a profound interplay between color and emotional resonance. Through
systematic analysis of representative works such as the "Water Lilies" series
and the "Haystacks" painting groups, distinctive characteristics of Monet's color
application have been identified: the construction of dynamic complementary
color structures through fragmented brushstrokes, the creation of multi-layered
translucent textures using color superposition techniques, and the development of
temporal color narratives on two-dimensional planes. Such flexible and vivid color
presentation is highly compatible with the dynamic growth cycle of herbaceous
plants. When comparing these painterly characteristics with the chromatic features
of pseudo-natural herbaceous communities, a significant isomorphism emerges -
the flowering succession of perennial herbs and seasonal succession of grasses
within plant communities essentially form a dynamic chromatic symphony. The
research content mainly includes the following three parts: First, a comparative
visual analysis of Monet's mid to late period paintings and existing pseudonatural
plant communities is conducted to identify shared chromatic patterns and
structural similarities in color distribution, verifying the feasibility of applying his
color combinations to community construction. Second, digital tools are utilized
for the quantitative extraction of colors from Monet's paintings, establishing a oneto-
one correspondence between the extracted hues and the color hierarchies
of pseudo-natural herbaceous communities, and creating a color chart. Third,
based on the extracted chromatic compositions and ensuring ecological suitability,
pseudo-natural herbaceous plant communities are designed and configured
using these art-derived color palettes. At the theoretical construction level, this
study breaks through the traditional empirical design paradigm and establishes a
quantitative transformation model of "artistic color-plant chromatography-spatial
composition". In terms of practical application, innovative color comparison
methods can quickly transform artistic inspiration into landscape design color
matching schemes, enabling designers to create multiple solutions that balance
ecological efficiency and visual impact. The deeper significance lies in the fact that
this study is expected to promote the application of pseudo-natural herbaceous
plant communities in urban greening construction. This interdisciplinary
exploration has also opened up new paradigms for the theoretical exploration and
practical application of plant community aesthetics, highlighting the potential of
interdisciplinary collaboration between art, design, and ecology in shaping future
landscape design. |
